Route
From Menaggio (200m) you follow the road in the direction of Lugano. After a few curves at the first intersection you turn right to Loveno. You follow this road for about 200 m and then turn left to "Villa Belfaggio" and Pianure. After having passed the villa, the church San Lorenzo and "il Centro Sportivo", you arrive at "Pianure" (350 m), a big pasture. From here you follow the even cart-track straight on till you reach the river Sanagra near the bridge Nogara. You do not cross the bridge but you follow the track along the river which ltakes you to the agriturismo “La Vecchia Chioderia”. Here cross the bridge to the left and ascend the small road to the hamlet Codogna (450 m). You end up on the road leading up to Naggio. Turn left and after 20 meters you pass in front of the Villa Camozzi which hosts the ethnographical and naturalistic museum Val Sanagra. Just past the villa pick up the track below the walls of "Villa Camozzi"(sign "Rogolone" on top of the wall). From the even track you have a beautiful view of the Val Menaggio with Monte Crocione and Monte Galbiga. The trail then leads into the woods and for some brief stretches you will have to push the bike. You cross several streams and then a final steep stretch leads uphill to “il Rogolone”. Then you pick up the trail down on the left side of the clearing. You continue straight on, on quite an even trail almost always without any technical problems. The trail leads to a small square near the roman church of San Giorgio with frescos of the 13th century. From here the road leads up to the raoad between Carlazzo – Gottro and Naggio. Proceed right to Naggio. There is little traffic on the road and a nice view of the Menaggio valley.
Just before getting to Naggio there is a deviation to the left indicating Monti di Gottro - Val Sanagra. Who wants can make the beautiful detour of 11 km to Alpe Erba 1190.
Once at Naggio (657 m) you go straight on as far as the church. We highly recommend a visit to the old centre of the village and Piazza Maggiore before taking the road down to Menaggio.
When you arrive at Codogna (450 m) you return by the same route.
